The work of the Spanish sculptor Jesús Cúria Pérez (1969-) is currently present at Galeria São Mamede, in a solo exhibition open since the beginning of June. A selection from the artist’s most recent sculptures (from 2016 and 2017), that materializes his ongoing practice on the possibilities of the human body subject to a metamorphosis process. These are hybrid combinations of abstracted forms, materialized in plural materials, such as bronze, iron and wood, translated into movement or rigid attitude. Questions about identity, society and culture emerge as the artist suggests ‘new forms of what can be called human’.[1]
