What’s on… in Oporto – Michael Krebber, “The Living Wedge” at Serralves


For the first time in Portugal, the icon of contemporary art, Michael Krebber is exhibiting in Oporto with a great retrospective exhibition of his work.




The exhibition is called “The Living Wedge” curated by João Ribas, senior curator of Serralves Foundation, and shows 80 paintings and drawings from private and public institutions, with the aim of highlighting the relevance and importance of the artist to contemporary Art.






Krebber was born in 1954 in Cologne in Germany, his work is easy identified to abstract art in the materials, colors and concept, but focused a lot in the theory of art, questioning the purpose of the gesture, composition, even the public reception. Michael Krebber challenges also art to be free and experimental, claims that should not exist a signature appropriating the framework and so many other revolutions.
