What’s on in… Lisbon – No Limite da Forma, Pedro Figueiredo at Centro Cultural de Cascais
The Cascais City Council and Fundação D. Luis I, give us the privilege to contemplate the amazing sculptures of Pedro Figueiredo in Centro Cultural de Cascais (Museum Quarter) from 17th of June until 28th of August.
Pedro Figueiredo, an already known artist from our gallery, was born in 1974 in Guarda, and currently lives in Coimbra, where he also graduated. First, a degree in Sculpture, after a Post-graduation in Aesthetic Communication and ended with a Master’s degree in Plastic Arts, all in the University School of the Arts of Coimbra – A.R.C.A. – E.U.A.C.
His sculpture goes further than the finished work, it has much more to do with the process, with the manual work of the artist. In this way Figueiredo’s pieces are also similar to installations that interact with the environment that surrounds it. It’s a kind of endless sculpture that breaks the void that surrounds it and leaves the limits uncertain.
The artist has made already several national and international exhibitions, won the 1st Acquisition Award – NEUR’ARTE, O Cérebro e a Arte, Museu de Aveiro in 2013 and the Revelation Award in the XII International Art Biennale of Vila Nova de Cerveira, in 2003. A rising artist, with a great exhibition that you should not miss!
