Alberto Burri’s life (1915 – 1995 ), was definitely not usual – from doctor to prisoner of war to artist, he surely went through a lot during his life. It is maybe because of his history that his paintings are so strong, brutal and raw.
There is definitely a big reflection of his life in his art – with paintings compared to flesh, with a peculiar choice of materials and with unique techniques maybe too advanced for his time – drawing with sutures and painting with fabrics.
Until the 6th of January, at the New york Guggenheim, you will be able to witness a major retrospective exhibition – the first in the United States in over 35 years of Burri’s life work.
This exhibition will bring you a comprehensive look at Burri’s process-based work with many series that are often not seen.
Truly a unique opportunity that shouldn’t be missed!
