Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso is definitely one of Portugal’s biggest modern painters. And while that was no secret for any portuguese citizen – abroad he hasn’t gotten the recognition he deserves. That is – until now.
Amadeu de Souza-Cardoso lived in Paris from 1906 to 1914, and considering Paris great influence in his work, a world class exhibition at a symbolic place was long over-due.
So in 2016 that will finally happen at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Paris.
Finally the artists work will be known by Parisians – and the world. Simultaneously there will be an architecture exhibition about the last 50 years of portuguese architecture.
All this exhibitions come in celebration of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation 50 years anniversary – and many more events will bring Portugal and France closer as more portuguese artists will be showing their work in Paris throughout the year.
It is always a good time to visit Paris, but we think 2016 will be especially worthwhile.
